The Influence of Heterogeneity and Confining Pressure on the Hydromechanics of a Sandstone Using Neutron and X-Ray Imaging
This study utilizes advanced 3D imaging techniques, combining X-ray and neutron tomography, to investigate the hydromechanical evolution of Idaho Gray sandstone during coupled triaxial permeability tests. The analysis involved correlating mechanical and hydraulic bulk measurements, porosity fields, strain fields derived from Digital Volume Correlation analysis and fluid speed fields derived from t

The European Union and Planetary Health Politics
In 2015 the Rockefeller Foundation-Lancet Commission defined planetary health as built on an ecological model that integrates the material, biological, social, and cultural aspects of public health and accepts the complexity and non-linearity of the dynamics of natural systems. The zoonotic COVID-19 pandemic hastened this awaking to the symbiotic nature of planetary health politics (PHP), with the
Improving the performance of agricultural temporary water markets : The role of technology-based and transaction-based subsidies
Water markets are increasingly advocated for combating agricultural water scarcity. However, in developing countries’ arid and semiarid regions, water market performance is greatly weakened by the insufficient demand-side and supply-side driving forces stemming from farmers’ limited awareness and capacity. Building an agent-based model and taking Hami City, Xinjiang in northwestern China as the ca
Long-term pain and health economic outcomes in adults receiving multidisciplinary CBT for chronic pain : the role of psychological inflexibility

Introducing wetland offset markets under development-restoration conflicts : The role of public offset credit supply
Wetland offset markets (WOMs) are increasingly applied worldwide as powerful tools for mitigating conflicts between wetland development and restoration. Reducing benefit uncertainty is key to promoting private restoration and introducing WOMs, which necessitates sufficient and stable price signals. Given that governments are important suppliers in WOMs, this article aims to explore the role of pub
A small-sized information display system for entering a flight task to an unmanned aerial vehicle
This work is devoted to the development of a prototype of a small-sized information display system (SSIDS) for UAVs, which implements a human-machine interface. This system in field conditions in the presence of electromagnetic interference allows you to enter and adjust the flight task. The research used a liquid crystal display (LCD) based on the GC9A01 driver and a WeActStudio development board
Subsurface data handling in infrastructure planning : A geological perspective
A substantial part in planning for linear infrastructure like road and railways are dependent on the conditions of the ground. As such, much data is collected to categorise the subsurface in order to adequately design the planned structure, estimate volumes in earth works and apply reinforcements. This data, pertaining to the subterranean structure and composition, is usually not plentiful in earl

Responsibilization and Gender Inequality : Navigating Structural Barriers in the Swedish Digital Games Industry
The Swedish digital games industry portrays itself as inclusive and egalitarian, yet structural inequalities persist, particularly for women. Despite progress in gender equality in Sweden, the industry remains male-dominated, with women comprising only 24% of the workforce in 2023. Female game developers often face exclusion, sexism, and limited career opportunities, being relegated to less presti
Effects of Permanent and Temporary Water-Right Payments on Balancing Agricultural and Ecological Interests : A Case Study of Hami Prefecture in Northwestern China
Water productivity promotion is critical for achieving a balance maintaining the livelihood of large poor agricultural population and protecting ecological water in developing countries in arid and semiarid regions, and government financial payments play a significant role in this process. According to different water rights, government financial payment can be categorized as permanent water right
Walter Benjamin and Günther Anders on Kafka and the Role of Literature

Emergent Behavior of Living Neuronal Networks : Creating circuits and exploring the dynamics of neurons in vitro
In the past two decades there’s been an incredible development in the field of in vitro neural cultures. Thanks to the developments in embryonic stem cell technology, and the ability to produce pluripotent stem cells from adult human cells, producing human neural cultures has become much more widely accessible, and the ability to recreate physiological processes is increasing at an accelerating ra
Social Preferences and Environmental Externalities
Standard economic theory assumes that consumers ignore the externalities they create, such as emissions from burning fossil fuels and generating waste. In an incentivized study (N = 3, 718), we find that most people forgo substantial gains to avoid imposing negative externalities on others. Using administrative data on household waste, we show a clear link between such prosociality and waste behav
