Social Dialogue in Times of Crises. : Introduction to the Special Issue

A crisis refers to some sort of disruption of established practices, routines, or procedures occurring whenever a risk has been realized (Battistelli & Galantino 2019; Beck 1986, 2006). For social actors exposed to crisis in the labor market, this means that they will have to navigate some sort of uncertainty, trying to respond to the consequences unfolding in their surroundings as well as in

The effects of sociodemographic factors and comorbidities on sepsis: A nationwide Swedish cohort study

Sepsis is a severe condition, representing a significant public health concern, especially in the elderly. There is, however, little insight into the potential effects of sociodemographic factors and comorbidities on sepsis incidence and how these factors interact. This was a nationwide open cohort study including individuals (N = 6746010) in Sweden ≥ 18 years of age spanning from 1997 to 2018, wi

Predictors of specialist somatic healthcare utilization among older people with intellectual disability and their age-peers in the general population : a national register study

OBJECTIVES: To compare somatic healthcare usage among older people with intellectual disabilities (ID) to that of their age-peers in the general population, taking into account health and demographic factors, and to identify predictors for somatic healthcare usage among older people with ID.PARTICIPANTS: Equally sized cohorts, one with people with ID and one referent cohort, one-to-one-matched by

Robustness of the voluntary breath-hold approach for the treatment of early stage lung cancer with spot scanned proton therapy

Background: Intra- and interfractional variations in anatomy can cause unplanned substantial alterations of the dose distribution of the target in proton therapy. Motion management methods might be used in order to minimize anatomical variations. In the proton therapy of lung cancer, a potential motion management technique is the use of the voluntary breath-hold approach. The aim of this study was

Evaluation of the breath-hold approach in proton therapy of lung tumors

Proton therapy has the potential to improve the local control rates and reduce the risk of toxicity forlung cancer patients. However, the delivery of proton therapy is prone to uncertainties caused byanatomical changes and motion during the treatment and between the treatment fractions whichmay compromise its effectiveness. The dosimetric uncertainty of lung cancer proton therapy can beminimized t

Identifying Non-Steroidal Anti-Inflammatory Drug (NSAID) Users Among People with Osteoarthritis Through Administrative and Clinician-Reported Data - A Validation Study of 116,162 Patients

PURPOSE: (i) To report the prevalence of participants to a first-line intervention for OA in Sweden using over-the-counter (OTC) and/or prescribed NSAIDs; (ii) To estimate the accuracy of dispensed prescriptions of NSAIDs recorded in a Swedish health-care register to capture the use of NSAID considering clinician-report as reference standard.METHODS: Register-based study. We used data from OA indi

Stance-Conveying Hashtag Functions in Organic Food Tweets : #youneedtoknow

This corpus-based study examines how writers of tweets about organic food use hashtags to direct readers towards the preferred tweet interpretation while expressing their stance to organic food. Our aim is to identify the functions stance-conveying hashtags serve in these tweets. To this end, we draw on Du Bois’ (2007) approach to stance and Francis’ (1994) analysis of metalinguistic labels. We an

Public health nurses experience of mental health encounters in the context of primary health care: a constructivist grounded theory study

BackgroundIn primary health care people with mental health needs are often overlooked or masked with physical complaints. It has been suggested that public health nurses lack sufficient knowledge when encountering people with mental health problems. Low levels of mental health literacy among professionals are associated with negative patient outcome. There is a need to understand public health nur

Effect of CO2 dilution on structures of premixed syngas/air flames in a gas turbine model combustor

The impact of CO dilution on combustion of syngas (a mixture of H2, CO, and CH4) was investigated in a lab-scale gas turbine model combustor at atmospheric pressure conditions. Two mild dilution levels of CO2, corresponding to 15% and 34% of CO2 mole fraction in the syngas/CO2 mixtures, were experimentally investigated to evaluate the effects of CO2 dilution on the flame structures and the emissio
