The samples are placed in big tubs in which exchange of acid and buffer are computer monitored. For smaller samples (< 2 kg each) we use regular 10 litre buckets (left). Once digested we use equipment to get rid of clay particles (right). Depending on the nature of the sample residue it is separated magnetically or by means of density (applying sodium polytungstate).
