A basic question concerns the reasons for, ant the causes of, distrust. Which are they, what do they mean, and how reliable are they? The papers and presentations in this volume focus on external and internal factors contributing to distrus

This thesis explores the radioactive image and poses the multi-layered question: ‘(how) can radioactivity exist as an image, when it cannot be seen, heard or felt?’. By having no sensorial qualities, radioactivity is often narrated in popular media by metaphoric association. Through close analyses of selected scenes from HBO’s tv-series Chernobyl (2019) the study suggests that a variety of tropes

Musical Singularity and the Case of Digital Music Archives

In the last decade the Internet as we know it has developed rapidly. With it music has been spread, consumed and absorbed in manners that ultimately questions both its status as well as its possibilities. In a digital age, does it make sense to think of music as progressing after certain inherent logics? Is music not enmeshed in our digital doings to such a degree that the entire foundation for ho
