Constructing radical right populist resistance : Metaphors of heterosexist masculinities and the family question in Sweden

The construction of radical right populist resistance around metaphors ofmasculinity at the beginning of the 21st century is a little researched area. Thisarticle accounts for the discursive redefinitions of Swedishness enabled byconceptual metaphors in order to accommodate centrally located heterosexistmasculinities at the intersection of gender, class, and ‘race’, as heralded by the main Swedish

Chemical methods and techniques to monitor early Maillard reaction in milk products; A review

Maillard reaction is an extensively studied, yet unresolved chemical reaction that occurs as a result of application of the heat and during the storage of foods. The formation of advanced glycation end products (AGEs) has been the focus of several investigations recently. These molecules which are formed at the advanced stage of the Maillard reaction, are suspected to be involved in autoimmune dis

The Drowning World : The visual culture of climate change

A challenging question today is how to understand and act on climate change. Previous analyses of the public outreach of the climate sciences have concluded that the urgent communication of climate change is inadequate. It is foremost the invisibility of carbon dioxide and the lack of a tangible relationship between current emissions and future effects that have been seen as the main challenge to

I svensk rätt finns inget straffbud som uttryckligen tar siktThe term “economic violence” is a concept that is relatively unfamiliar to many, which only in recent years has begun to find its way into the media and the general social debate. Many researchers regard economic violence as a very serious issue and, above all, as a major risk that may cause women that are victims of domestic violence to stay in a violent relationship. In Swedish law, there are n

Rural Women in Bangladesh : The Legal Status of Women and the Relationship between NGOs and Religious Groups

Denna avhandling diskuterar kvinnors levnadsförhållanden på landsbygden med fokus påBangladesh is one of the largest Muslim countries in the world. Monuments Cast Shadows : Remembering and Forgetting the ‘Dead Survivors’ of Nazi Persecution in Swedish Cemeteries

In July 2020, two Holocaust memorials disappeared from a Jewish cemetery in Stockholm where Holocaust survivors who died soon after coming to Sweden for medical treatment in 1945 are buried. Though it occurred in the midst of both the global #TakeItDown movement and the Swedish government’s plans to establish a Holocaust museum in Sweden, this removal garnered no media attention or public outcry.

Conflict and revolt in the name of unity: Florentine factions in the Consulte e Pratiche on the cusp of the Ciompi Revolt

We analyze public-policy speeches in the Florentine Consulte e Pratiche, immediately prior to the Ciompi Revolt, for signs of elite factional conflict, in the context of self-proclaimed unity. We employ three statistical analyses of these speeches in Latin: namely, scatterplots of word frequencies, Wordfish scaling, and regressions on speech-similarities. Plus we employ two qualitative analyses: a
