This thesis contains an examination of a method for quantitative phase imaging using lateral shearing interferometry. The focus is on how the degree of spatial coherence in the light source effect the image. The method is examined by first creating a simulation of the system, then looking at some analytical solutions for the interaction between some parameters, and finally conducting an experime

This study is conducted with the help of 58 students in our Social Sciences departement examined the relationship between student valuations of academic outcomes and the perceived likelihood of these within the framework of Expectancy Theory. Furthermore, students current motivation was gauged using a SIMS test developed in accordance to Self- determination theory. The above mentioned tests were p

Sweden's public sector is drastically changing through reforms of privatization and increased market influences. The aim of this thesis is to examine these reforms' effects on political accountability. The object of study is the regional municipality of Scania, Region Skåne, and its elected officials' possibilities for accountability from the privatized primary care section of the regi

One of the most common batteries used for energy storage systems is the lithium-ion battery due to its high energy and power density as well as long service life. Despite this, research is falling behind in relation to how stationary energy storage systems should be regulated when it comes to fire protection requirements. The risks of placing a large amount of Li-ion batteries in one and the same

The growing expansion of importance amid financial stakeholders regarding sustainability has led to an extended demand and need of reliable reporting amongst sustainability metrics. Previous research and information about ESG reporting and how ESG ratings are calculated are flawed. This thesis investigates if there are differences between how ESG ratings are assessed between companies producing da

This paper presents the design and features of frequency-selective wallpaper-based on periodic and symmetric metallic hexagons-intended to be attached to standard walls for filtering out 5GHz signals (e.g., IEEE 802.11a systems)without blocking other selected radio communication services (e.g., cellular mobile communication signals). It analyzes the characteristics of the radio channel-as found wi

The apartment-block of Flagghusen in Malmö in the south of Sweden was built and designed with the intention to achieve a lower energy use compare to the regulations and a good indoor environment. The outcome of this ambition was evaluated in a first report in 2010 that showed that the overall notion of the perceived indoor climate in the apartments were good but that the measured energy use exceed

The Drell-Yan (DY) process of dilepton pair production off nuclei is not affected by final state interactions, energy loss, or absorption. A detailed phenomenological study of this process is thus convenient for investigation of the onset of initial-state effects in proton-nucleus (pA) collisions. In this paper, we present a comprehensive analysis of the DY process in pA interactions at RHIC and L

We define a mathematical method that, given the form of an interaction network, defines an energy as a function of the state of the network. When combined with a suitable entropy, it yields a free energy that gives rise to the dynamics of the network, allowing solutions and optimal paths to be efficiently found. This is done primarily with the gene regulatory networks governing cell reprogramming

Governance and ideology have significant influence on how problems and policies are conceptualized. This conceptualization affects the way in which political subjects are formed and how individuals regard themselves. In this paper we approach environmental policy from a post-structuralist stance. Our ambition is to demonstrate a paradoxical relationship between the current consumer oriented repres

The generation of induced pluripotent stem (iPS) cells from differentiated cells is a process of great scientific interest due to the medical potential of such cells. This process (called 'reprogramming' of cells) is however notoriously inefficient and still not very well understood. Therefore studies that can help us understand the interactions and mechanisms governing the reprogramming p

There still is a need for devices that allow reproducible stimulation of skin areas of the human body. We constructed a stimulation system and tested it by using brief pneumatic stimulation to the right thumb of nine healthy volunteers. BOLD-signals in response to tactile stimulation with frequencies of 1, 3 and 5 Hz were measured using a 3T MRI scanner. The stimulation device consists of syntheti
