Diabeteshistoria

Diabetessjukdomen är nog lika gammal som människan själv. Under århundraden präglades behandlingen av vanmakt och okunskap.Ett exempel är att diabetikerna uppmanades att äta socker.Först under det sena 1800-talet blev behandlingarna mer ändamålsenliga. En rad olika dieter infördes. Mer ändamålsenliga men plågsamma, till exempel svält- och fettkurer.Med insulinets upptäckt 1921 ändrades bilden.

Insikten att all diabetes inte är samma sjukdom
