Simulations of TEM images of nanoparticles embedded in amorphous ice

In order to study nanoparticles in an efficient way, new characterization methods has to be developed in parallel with the efforts to develop new preparation methods. One such characterization method is cryo-transmission electron microscopy (cryo-TEM) which gives the possibility to image nanoparticles as they are in solution. The particle-containing solution is plunge-frozen, creating a thin froze

Syntax of the Modern Greek Verbal System: The Use of the Forms, Particularly in Combination with èá and vá

The first part of Syntax of the Modern Greek Verbal System(second thoroughly revised edition) deals with the grammatical categrories of verbs (voice, aspect etc.) and the use of each verbal form (ëýíù, ëýóù, Ýëõíá, Ýëõóá, imperatives etc.). The second part deals in detail with the functions of the particles èá, áò and especially õá. Two brief final chapters cover indirect speech and the use of the

It’s the bioeconomy, stupid! An Introduction to the World of Bioenergy

Bioenergy is booming around the world and with the expansion comes exciting opportunities and some disturbing risks. Learning about bioenergy – from technologies, to resources, to policies – is important to the success and sustainability of the bioeconomy. This interactive guide for school students (16-18 years) and teachers opens the door to understanding and engaging in the transition from the f

Bisphosphonates for orthopedic applications. Studies in rat models

Bifosfonater finns iProsthetic loosening, bone graft resorption and osteonecrosis are examples of problems in orthopedic surgery caused by or augmented by bone resorption. Bone resorption is caused by osteoclasts. Osteoclasts can be inactivated with biphosphonates, a drug in clinical use against osteoporosis and osteolytic tumors. The bone resorption-reducing ability of bisphosphonates was analyzed in rat models. An

Motion Estimation in Image Sequences Using the Deformation of Apparent Contours

The problem of determining the camera motion from apparent contours or silhouettes of curved three-dimensional surfaces is considered. In a sequence of images is shown how to use the generalized epipolar constraint on apparent contours. One such constraint is obtained for each epipolar tangency point in each image pair. Thus in theory the motion can be calculated from the deformation of a single c
