Suicidal Communication Prior to Suicide in Children and Young Adults—A Medical Records Review in Health Care Services in Sweden
Suicide among children and young adults is a leading cause of mortality, highlighting the importance of the development of life-saving interventions. This study is part of the nationwide study Retrospective investigation of health care utilization of individuals who died by suicide in Sweden in 2015, Lund University, Sweden. The aim was to gain a better understanding of verbal suicidal communicati
Reporting Bone Cytopathology-A Proposal Based on a Single Tertiary Centre Experience
OBJECTIVE: Fine-needle aspiration cytology (FNAC) from bone lesions has been proven to be a useful diagnostic tool but lacks standardisation. The aim of the study was to evaluate the diagnostic utility of FNAC as a basis to propose and test a reporting system for bone reporting cytopathology.METHODS: This retrospective study is based on patients with bone lesions, that were approached by cytology

Digital technologies for water use and management in agriculture : recent applications and future outlook
This article provides a comprehensive overview of digital technologies for water use and management in agriculture, examining recent applications and future prospects. It examines key water-related challenges - scarcity, pollution, inefficient use and climate change - and shows how various digital technologies such as Remote Sensing, Artificial Intelligence, the Internet of Things, Big Data, Robot
The Effects of Interactive Requests on the Quantity and Quality of Survey Responses : An International Methodological Experiment
A perennial issue of survey research is that some participants do not answer all questions. Interactive follow-up requests are a novel approach to this problem. However, research on their effectiveness is scarce. I present the most comprehensive study yet on the effects of interactive requests on item non-responses. Theoretically, I outline different pathways whereby follow-up requests may effecti
Hepatitis Associated with Catha edulis Consumption-A Single-Center Study
Background/Objectives:Catha edulis, also known as Khat, is a stimulant with hepatotoxic properties. Studies reporting laboratory patterns are scarce. The aim was to assess the patterns associated with hepatic dysfunction due to Khat usage. Methods: Patients with liver injury and self-reported Khat consumption presenting to the gastroenterology department at the King Fahad Central Hospital in Jazan

A sequence variation in the human cystatin D gene resulting in an amino acid (Cys/Arg) polymorphism at the protein level
A polymorphism in the coding region of the human cystatin D gene has been detected by direct sequencing of amplified DNA from different individuals. The variation, resulting from a T/C transition in exon 1 of the gene, causes an amino acid variation, Cys/Arg, at the protein level. An allele-specific oligonucleotide hybridization assay was developed and used to demonstrate this polymorphism in the
Model simulation of ultrafine particles inside a road tunnel
A monodispersive aerosol dynamic model, coupled to a 3D hydrodynamical grid model, has been used to study the dynamics of ultrafine particles inside a road tunnel in Stockholm, Sweden. The model results were compared to measured data of particle number concentrations, traffic intensity and tunnel ventilation rate. Coagulation and depositional losses to the tunnel walls were shown to be important p
Intra- and interobserver reproducibility of ultrasound measurements of cervical length and width in the second and third trimesters of pregnancy.
Searches for supersymmetric particles in e(+)e(-) collisions up to 208 GeV and interpretation of the results within the MSSM
DELPHI data collected at centre-of-mass energies up to 208 GeV have been analysed to search for charginos, neutralinos and sfermions in the framework of the Minimal Supersymmetric Standard Model (MSSM) with R-parity conservation. No evidence for a signal was found in any of the channels. The results of each search were used to derive limits on production cross-sections and particle masses. In addi

Human antimicrobial peptide LL-37 is present in atherosclerotic plaques and induces death of vascular smooth muscle cells: a laboratory study
BACKGROUND: Death of smooth muscle cells in the atherosclerotic plaques makes the plaques more prone to rupture, which can initiate an acute ischemic event. The development of atherosclerosis includes the migration of immune cells e.g. monocytes/macrophages and T lymphocytes into the lesions. Immune cells can release antimicrobial peptides. One of these, human cathelicidin antimicrobial peptide hC

Classification and prediction of clinical Alzheimer's diagnosis based on plasma signaling proteins
A molecular test for Alzheimer's disease could lead to better treatment and therapies. We found 18 signaling proteins in blood plasma that can be used to classify blinded samples from Alzheimer's and control subjects with close to 90% accuracy and to identify patients who had mild cognitive impairment that progressed to Alzheimer's disease 2-6 years later. Biological analysis of the 18 proteins po
Noise Generated by a Lifted Flame in a Vitiated Co-Flow
The acoustic field generated by a lifted flame is studied by a hybrid approach. First, Large Eddy Simulations (LES) are used to compute the flow and the acoustic sources. Next, an inhomogeneous wave equation is solved to obtain the resulting acoustic field. The flow computations show good agreement with experimental data. The dominant acoustic sources are found to be located in the ignition region
