Liesbeth disputerade oktober 2008 i Amsterdam och har jobbat i Amsterdam, Utrecht, Leiden och Giessen som lektor och forskare. Hennes forskning handlar om spanska Habsburgmonarkin, 1500-1700.
För tillfället arbetar hon, tilsammans med Harald Gustafsson, med projektet "Dynastipolitik omvärderad: dynastier och statsbildning i de habsburgska och oldenburgska monarkierna 1500-1700" (RJ, 2018-2020).
