ASG Blood GOOD AND EVIL Blood is an essential part of human life, so fundamental that it has been equated with life itself. However, blood has a complex and contradictory cultural value. The evolution of obituaries in ‘Dagens Nyheter’

This thesis aims to study obituaries in the Swedish newspaper 'Dagens Nyheter'. Newspapers are gathered from the years 1865 to 2010 with a 5-year interval and then categorized based on similarities between the issues. By approaching these categories with eye-tracking research and previous research on the cultural importance of obituaries, conclusions on the content, layout, and usage can b

When literature, conflict and memory are linkaged one to another. This is the main intention that this article brings about into the centre of discussion. Written in a form of personal reflection, then followed by a deeper discussion on the main topic, I address the notion of so-called constructed memory in the context of understanding the Indonesian literature as the impact of the 1965 conflict o

Bland mumier och mosslik - en jämförande studie av populärarkeologi och fackarkeologi

In my paper I have compared popular science and neutral science regarding language and construction. My task was to find out if there are differences between the language of popular science and that of scientific science. The purpose of my paper is to answer four questions 1.How do the authors present the bogbodies and the mummies in the two categories? 2.What does the popular science imagine th

Förstörelse av kulturella, historiska och religiösa objekt under kriget i Bosnien och Hercegovina

Deliberate and systematic destruction of cultural, historical and religious sites was an integral part of the ethnic cleansing policy used by the Serbian separatist forces in Bosnia and Hercegovina during the war between 1992 and 1995. In this essay I discuss deliberate and systematic destruction as a way of “killing memory” in a process of creating new Serbian national identity. In a society such

The Girl and the Tree s : Tree Activism in German Newspaper

A photo of the climate activist Greta Thunberg in Hambacher Wald ( a Rhineland lignite mining area) aroused a media hype in the German press for the wrong reasons. If Thunberg visited Hambacher Wald in order to protect the forest arguing that we are ”ignoring natural climate solutions” there trees are told to be a “tool we can use to repair our broken climate” the headdress of a person pictured at

Gestaltning av det förflutna : berättelser i museiutställningar

Museums, as we know them, originate from the enlightened modernity with its emphasis on rationality and positivism. Today, however, modernity is highly contested, and the role of the museum has shifted. We argue that historical museum exhibitions operate in the boundary between didactics and experiences, which in turn affects the way exhibitions communicate with its visitors. The aim of this thesi
