EnThe purpose of the thesis is to analyze and problematize how the Swedish regulation of economic compensation for pregnant employees during work prohibition doesn’t fulfill the requirements of maintaining salary or adequate allowance according to the Maternity protection directive 92/85/EEC. The thesis uses the legal dogmatic methodology with socio-legal and critical aspects to address the research

Associations grants can be crucial for the functioning ac- tivities of non-profit associations. This form of associations is, however, not regulated by law and is instead primarily based on case law and legal doctrine. This can create problems for public oversight in terms of which activities ap- ply fo

Characterising acute and chronic care needs: insights from the Global Burden of Disease Study 2019

Chronic care manages long-term, progressive conditions, while acute care addresses short-term conditions. Chronic conditions increasingly strain health systems, which are often unprepared for these demands. This study examines the burden of conditions requiring acute versus chronic care, including sequelae. Conditions and sequelae from the Global Burden of Diseases Study 2019 were classified into

Search for the jet-induced diffusion wake in the quark-gluon plasma via measurements of jet-track correlations in photon-jet events in (Formula presented) collisions at (Formula presented) with the ATLAS detector

This paper presents a measurement of jet-track correlations in photon-jet events, using 1.72 (Formula presented) of (Formula presented) data at (Formula presented) recorded with the ATLAS detector at the LHC. Events with energetic photon-jet pairs are selected, where the photon and jet are approximately back-to-back in azimuth. The angular correlation between jets and charged-particle tracks with

Family relations, adjustment and wellbeing in a longitudinal study of children in care

The article reports on a longitudinal study of children placed in a children's home during the first two years of the 1980s. The 26 children placed when younger than 4 years of age and staying more than 4 weeks were followed up 3 and 9 months after leaving the children's home and 5, 10, 15 and 20 years later. The children's family relations, including early attachments and later parental relations

Mapping local patterns of childhood overweight and wasting in low- and middle-income countries between 2000 and 2017

A double burden of malnutrition occurs when individuals, household members or communities experience both undernutrition and overweight. Here, we show geospatial estimates of overweight and wasting prevalence among children under 5 years of age in 105 low- and middle-income countries (LMICs) from 2000 to 2017 and aggregate these to policy-relevant administrative units. Wasting decreased overall ac

Swedish and Scottish National Transport Policy and Spend: A Social Equity Analysis

The topic of social equity in transport planning has been dealt with, in particular, by authorssuch as Martens (2012) and Martens and Golob (2012) using a social justice based-approach. However, such an approach, whilst valuable and analytically rigorous (based as it is on accessibility modelling),does not consider a wide range of possible other social impacts of transport, as set out in a framewor

Fråga inte längre vad staten kan göra för idrottsrörelsen, utan vad idrottsrörelsen kan göra för staten - Har New Public Management förändrat statens syn på den ideella idrottsrörelsen?

This thesis investigate if the application of New Public Management organization theory in Swedish bureaucracy has influenced the states perception of non-profit organizations. The focus is on the non-profit sports association Riksidrottsförbundet. The method used for the thesis was a qualitative deep read of all official government investigations (spanning from year 1957 to 2008) concerning finan

Symbiotic adaptations in the fungal cultivar of leaf-cutting ants.

Centuries of artificial selection have dramatically improved the yield of human agriculture; however, strong directional selection also occurs in natural symbiotic interactions. Fungus-growing attine ants cultivate basidiomycete fungi for food. One cultivar lineage has evolved inflated hyphal tips (gongylidia) that grow in bundles called staphylae, to specifically feed the ants. Here we show exten

Measurement of W±-boson differential cross-sections in proton–proton collisions with low pile-up data at s=5.02 TeV and 13TeV with the ATLAS detector

High precision single-differential W±-boson production cross-sections as a function of electron or muon transverse momentum pT or their pseudorapity η, as well as double-differential cross-sections as functions of these variables, are measured in proton–proton collisions at centre-of-mass energies s=5.02 TeV and 13 TeV. The W-boson charge asymmetry as a function of lepton η is also measured. The d

Improved reconstruction of highly boosted τ-lepton pairs in the ττ→(μνμντ)(hadrons+ντ) decay channels with the ATLAS detector

This paper presents a new τ-lepton reconstruction and identification procedure at the ATLAS detector at the Large Hadron Collider, which leads to significantly improved performance in the case of physics processes where a highly boosted pair of τ-leptons is produced and one τ-lepton decays into a muon and two neutrinos (τμ), and the other decays into hadrons and one neutrino (τhad). By removing th
