Using Refactoring Techniques for Visual Editing of Hybrid Languages

In this paper we describe how techniques for refactoring can be used for visual editing of hybrid languages, that is, languages that have both a visual and a textual syntax. Textual languages have name rules that define how name uses are bound to name declarations. These bindings often correspond to connections in the visual language, and need to be taken into account in order to implement the vis

Methane dynamics in northern wetlands: Significance of vascular plants

MoThe studies presented in Papers I to VI illustrate several different aspects of the impact of vascular plants on methane emissions from northern natural wetlands. The subject has been approached on different scales, ranging from the study of microbial substrates in the vicinity of a single plant root, to an attempt to extrapolate some of the results to the entire northern hemisphere north of 50°N.

Simulated mechanisms of soil N feedback on the forest CO2 response

An improved understanding of the response of forest ecosystems to elevated levels of CO2 in the atmosphere is crucial because atmospheric CO2 concentration continues to increase at an accelerating rate and forests are an important sink in the global carbon cycle. Several CO2-enrichment experiments have now been running for more than 10 years, with highly variable short-term results after the first

Chromosomal Instability and Genomic Amplification in Bone and Soft Tissue Tumours

Popular Abstract in Swedish De flesta cancerformer uppvisar förvärvade kromosomavvikelser. En del enklare avvikelser har visat sig förekomma enbart i en viss tumörform och kan därför användas som diagnostiska markörer. I de flesta fall föreligger emellertid ett komplext och ospecifikt avvikelsemönster, ibland med ett mycket kraftigt ökat antal kopior av vissa DNA-sekvenser, så kallad genamplifieriAcquired genetic abnormalities are found in all types of malignant tumours and may contribute to neoplastic processes by altering protein structure or dosage. Many bone and soft tissue tumours (BSTT) are characterised by complex patterns of chromosome changes, including extensive intratumour heterogeneity and amplification of DNA sequences. The results presented in this thesis demonstrate that the

Discrete Optimal View Path Planning

This paper presents a discrete model of a sensor path planning problem, with a long-term planning horizon. The goal is to minimize the covariance of the reconstructed structures while meeting constraints on the length of the traversed path of the sensor. The sensor is restricted to move on a graph representing a discrete set of configurations, and additional constraints can be incorporated by alte

Performance analysis of cell zone partitioning in bandwidth reservation schemes

Bandwidth reservation is a procedure that can be applied to give higher priority to certain connection types in cellular networks. Subscriber movement predictions can be used to determine the amount of bandwidth to be reserved in each cell. The prediction accuracy is significantly unproved if both the approximate subscriber locations in the cell and stored subscriber movement data are taken into a
