High-speed laser diagnostics was utilized for single-cycle resolved studies of the fuel distribution in the combustion chamber of a truck-size HCCI engine. A multi-YAG laser system consisting of four individual Nd:YAG lasers was used for planar laser-induced fluorescence (PLIF) imaging of the fuel distribution. The fundamental beam from the lasers at 1064 nm was frequency quadrupled in order to ob
Drawing upon a discourse analysis of policy approach, it is shown that a 2013 Swedish government policy proposing semiprivatization of universities is not a radical departure from Swedish social democratic values about public institutions, but rather the current iteration of a longer neoliberal semiotic cycle in higher education.
This study examines the characteristics and nature of rumor via mobile communication in contemporary China. By focusing on six concrete case studies with 50+ in-depth interviews, this study observes that mobile phone-mediated rumor has evolved into a special form of popular resistance at the grassroots level. The low-cost and user-friendly mobile device lowers the average protest threshold, creati
A revealing illustration of the issue of standardization can best be demonstrated by giving the Arabic translation of the English word mobile. The translation of this word into Arabic is an implication, to a certain degree, of non-uniformity in the Arabic language.
In this study, the problem of feature extraction by scale-space methods is addressed. The modeling of image acquisition, image interporation and scale-space smoothing is discussed, with particular emphasis on the influence of random errors and the interplay between the discrete and continuous representations. In doing so, new results are given on the stochastic properties of discrete and continuou
