Numerical Study of Cellular Instability in Burner Stabilized Adiabatic Laminar Premixed Flames

The thesis deals with experiments and numerical simulations of adiabatic laminar premixed flames anchored to a heat-flux burner using different mixtures under various operating conditions. The aim is to obtain a better understanding of cellular instability in heat-flux burner anchored flames. Numerical and experimental studies were carried out to characterize the onset and the evolution of cellula

Control of the drying section in a paper machine during a web break

A new control strategy for steam pressure control in the drying cylinders during web breaks is presented. The development is performed using a new physical model implemented in Matlab-Simulink. The goal of the control strategy is to obtain the same drying properties after the web break as before the web break as fast as possible.

Socioeconomic Status and Mortality during the Mortality Transition: A Micro-level Study of Age-specific Mortality in Rural Southern Sweden 1815-1894

This paper deals with socioeconomic differences in mortality among infants, children, adults, and elderly during the period of mortality decline in the nineteenth century. It uses multilevel Cox regression controlling for shared unobserved factors at the family level, and also compares the magnitude of the observed differences between socioeconomic groups with the impact of unobserved factors at f

Robustness of TAP-based Scan Networks

It is common to embed instruments when developing integrated circuits (ICs). These instruments are accessed at post-silicon validation, debugging, wafer sort, package test, burn-in, printed circuit board bring-up, printed circuit board assembly manufacturing test, power-on self-test, and operator-driven in-field test. At any of these scenarios, it is of interest to access some but not all of the i

On sensory feedback in hand prostheses

Popular Abstract in Swedish Denna avhandling behandlar ämnet känselåterkoppling i handproteser. Att mista sin hand är en traumatisk upplevelse och den som har mist sin hand förlorar både känsel och motorik. En rudimentär greppfunktion kan återskapas genom att använda en handprotes. Nya och avancerade proteser som kontrolleras med hjälp av muskelsignaler finns numera på marknaden och dessa myoelektAmputation of the hand implies the loss of the ability to grasp and the ability to "feel". The grasping function can be primitively restored using an active prosthesis. Multiarticulating electrically powered hands have recently made their way to the market and these hands provide enhanced grasping and gripping capabilities. However, these hands provide no direct and conscious sensory feedback to
