The chapter describes my career as a student and sociologist, my Indian studies, my perspectives on Swedisk sociology over the past 40 years, and how I think the discipline can move forward today.

Railway accidents where children are injured or killed cause sorrow and grief in all those involved. These accidents are more common than often believed. Thus, 29 children and adolescents have been killed or seriously injured on the Swedish railways during the last three years. In this project, children’s and adolescents’ accidents in connection with trains and railways are charted and classified.
