I investigate colonial processes during the 19th century from a "below" and local perspective. What especially interests me is the way cultural contacts in a colonial context stimulates cultural and social change. Another aim of mine is to draw attention to stories and experiences of often overlooked or marginalized individuals and groups.
In my PHD-project I'm researching the relationships between Swedish-American missionaries and native communities in Alaska during late 19th century from a global history perspective.
As of the fall semester of 2026 I'm a doctoral student in history, financed through the National Research Academy of Historical Studies. I have a background in European Studies, Social Anthropology and History at Malmö University and Stockholm University.
