är fil.dr. i historia och forskare vid Institutionen för kommunikation och medier, avdelningen för Mediehistoria. I sin forskning fokuserar han på kontakter mellan öst och väst i kalla krigets Europa. Han är dessutom expert på turismhistoria, tysk och tjeckisk samtidshistoria, minneskultur och film. Sune har varit gästforskare vid University of Amsterdam, Karlsuniversitetet i Prag, Collegium Carolinum i München, och Bielefeld University.

Forskning

Om forskningen

Sune Bechmann Pedersen leder forskningsprojektet Semester bakom järnridån: Skandinavisk turism i det kommunistiska Europa, 1945–1989 (VR dnr. 2016-06615). Han bidrar dessutom till projektet Transborder television. Scandinavia and the GDR in the 1970s finansieret av Crafoordska stiftelsen. Han har publicerat artiklar om film och minne i Tyskland och Tjeckien efter 1989 och arbetar nu på ett bokprojekt om skandinavisk turism till Öst- och Centraleuropa under 1900-talet. Hans expertis omfatter turismens historia, det kalla krigets kulturhistoria, tysk och tjeckisk samtidshistoria, europeisk minneskultur och filmhistoria.
